Shola (sholafavor) | 18 comments Oh oh. dont think nook supports amazon. i was trying to go an audiobook sponsered by amazon, it clearly states in their agreement that they do not support nook.....May be it inverse now, keep u.s. posted

Christopher Conn (cmconn) | 135 comments I don't have a kindle (wouldn't buy one considering I'm ownership a nook tablet) but I read kindle books on the kindle PC app:

http://world wide web.amazon.com/gp/feature.html...

It's squeamish, and expert for picking upwardly some of those cheap books. I've used nook for PC for years, finally set to get a real one.

Lacie (Darkangel78) (darkangel78) I would also say Calibre if they are DRM gratis otherwise yous would accept to root the NC and download the Kindle app.

SassySami | 22 comments Even if they have DRM y'all can use Calibre. Buy the book, open Kindle for PC, open the Kindle drive (in Vista it's Owner/Documents/My Kindle Content, then drag the .azw files into Calibre. From in that location you but add together them to your Nook.

This was been covered earlier in the thread. Calibre can convert them if they don't accept DRM. Calibre can't even display them for you lot in their online reader if they have DRM.

When you say "this is truthful", do you lot hateful information technology's true that y'all're sending .amz files to your Nook and it's reading them? Or practise you lot mean yous're importing them into Calibre, stripping the DRM, converting them to epub and so sending them? Because at that place'south a significant difference.

message 16: by AmyK (new)

AmyK (yakyma) I do what sassysami wrote.....import them into calibre from Kindle for pc and convert them to epub.

That's not what sassysami wrote -- the conversion process was left out.

How many books have you lot washed this with? I tin see a few being DRM-gratuitous to begin with, only if you're doing this with a large number of books, the odds are high that the DRM is existence stripped at some point in the process.

Distressing; it happens automatically once you add to your Nook, or y'all can select Convert and do information technology yourself. And come to think of information technology, I don't actually purchase books from Amazon; I only get the freebies, so they might non be DRM protected.

message 20: past Erica (new)

Erica | 2 comments I downloaded 6 FREE books from Amazon this week. Put them into Calibre to convert them to my Nook. 3 of them converted just fine and work great on my Nook. 3 of them told me they were DRM protected and wouldn't convert. So you lot have a 50/50 chance on getting a book that's DRM gratis whether it's bought or a freebie.

message 21: past willaful, dedicated nookworm (new)

willaful | 414 comments Mod
I call back the odds of having DRM are probably much college on books yous actually purchase. Peculiarly since a lot of Amazon freebies are self-published and it costs to put DRM on a volume.

There is a style to spot some DRM-free books by looking at the book rights on Amazon, but I don't know if it e'er works.

★Meghan★ (starinheaven) | 340 comments If you lot have the Calibre program, you can download these tools to have off the DRM. I use it more often than not for my own books that I accept an to permit my mom read a book I have or something of that sort. Plus I want to read my Kindle books on my Nook then I use information technology for that too.

I downloaded Calibre and am trying to get a free Kindle book off of my Amazon "deject" and over to Calibre. How is that process done?

Robyn Bruce | 1 comments Yous don't have to fool around converting annihilation. On your Nook, go to the white Google shopping bag and open. Play/Store. Go to Apps inside the shopping purse. So practise a search for "Kindle". Information technology will come up and the Kindle is a gratuitous download. At present you have the Kindle application on your Nook. From that Kindle application, you can download any kindle books yous have previously bought for gratis and y'all can download new Kindle books onto your Nook. I but did it today and it works well. Hope this helps!

That'southward only for Nook tablets though, not the ereaders.

message 31: by Jean (new)

Jean French (jfrench55) | 82 comments If the book isn't DRM protected, than yous can employ a program called Calibre at http://calibre-ebook.com. It's complimentary just if yous like it, you lot should send a donation. I remember it'south the best program for ereaders.

There are programs out on the internet that will remove the DRM only they are ILLEGAL in the US.

Amazon & B&Due north want you to buy from them so they only offer their books for their ereader's format. I recollect that is shortsighted on their role. I have a tablet & a Uncomplicated Touch so I buy my books from the cheapest vendor.

Calibre is WELL worth the investment! I use it all the time, particularly moving books from one device to another (Kindle, Nook, laptop, desktop). It also gives you nice big photos of the covers, and shows a check mark for anything you accept already downloaded. It is really nice to have one spot where everything is located, no matter where you lot downloaded it from. You can save to multiple disks by choosing which device you want to download to. Y'all can even connect to iTunes (yous can check and see but I believe that means you can drop books to your telephone - I don't need a cell and then I tin't be certain) and you can even eastward-mail DRM free books to your friends.

It will automatically reformat for what you need for each device (.epub, .mobi, etc.) Overall? Transport these wonderful people some coin when you lot download . . . they have created a wonderful program that works!

message 33: past Karen (new)

Karen (2noelle) For Nook owners, yous tin can legally read your Kindle/Amazon books on your Nook, if yous have the Hd/HD+ model. All you take to exercise is download the Kindle app from the Google Play store, log in with your account information and at that place yous get! Of course, you lot can't manage your books, Amazon content doesn't show up on the home page, you can't archive/unarchive, etc, like you do with your B&Due north content, but you can read them on the same device.

As for caliber, it is a good program for organizing your ebook content. To my knowledge yous tin can't strip DRM from books using that plan.

So, I Read This Book Today (leiahingolden) | 65 comments I have never tried that stripping of DRM matter. I have an old, beat up Kindle that I use for books that are DRM and my new HD+ model is the BOMB!!!

message 35: by Thera (new)

Thera Lewis (thera1) | 124 comments You tin can strip DRM using calibre, if you lot know how to tweek it.
Nevertheless, it is frowned upon and is potentially illegal, so information technology can't be shared.
But yes, it is possible.

So, I Read This Book Today (leiahingolden) | 65 comments That whole "illegal" thing really keeps me from even thinking nigh it!

Stephanie (shallen0116) I use the kindle app on my nook hard disk drive+... Works smashing!

So, I Read This Book Today (leiahingolden) | 65 comments Information technology does, doesn't information technology Stephanie! I love it. And I Love the size of the screen on the hard disk+. It is a lot easier to read than the Kindle, and it is lighter, even though information technology is bigger. Fashion cool.

Missyb | 221 comments download the amazon app onto your Nook from the google store, then you can get books from amazon. I recall yous have to have the wi-fi on your Nook On in society to read them. I have the app (it's free) on my android phone and my nook. I've but gotten the books from amazon while on the estimator, but they show up on my telephone and nook in the app fairly quickly.

try the google store app, that'due south where I plant information technology and downloaded it from, for free. The google shop app looks like a white souvenir bag with that bluish greenish & orange & yellow triangle on it. The kindle app is what I downloaded onto my phone & nook to read amazon books from. It looks like a person sitting nether a tree reading with the word kindle across the top.

Karen (2noelle) I guess it'southward a matter of semantics. You tin can get the Kindle app on a nook hard disk/hd+ and read your amazon books on the nook device through the app. You cannot manage whatever of the Kindle content outside the app.

I have a lot of ebooks from Amazon, mostly gratuitous, that I read on my Nook Hard disk drive+.
